Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC)
Safe and Secure Space
ECS provide children and young people with a safe and home-like environment guided by an overarching philosophy of therapeutic care. We holistically address the needs of children and young people through an intensive, time limited program of integrated individual and group interventions and consistent, planned daily routines.
Our SSRC program has the primary goal of promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people with the main objectives to:
- Provide quality care environments that support positive, safe, and healing relationships for young people, their family, kin and community.
- Ensure children and young people receive the appropriate level of care, ‘in the right way, at the right time’ throughout their continuum of care.

Our SSRC Services

SIL placements
ECS provides full-time or part-time SIL placements options for children and young people who are under NDIS. By providing supports outside of the family home for participants who have high support needs and require a significant amount of assistance throughout the day. We work collaboratively with families and all stakeholders to ensure the Childs best interest is kept at the centre of their care. ECS offers SIL options across Australia.

Transitional Supports
ECS offers supports aimed at facilitating community reintegration for young people exiting juvenile justice, community detention or hospital settings. Our services are welcoming, safe, culturally appropriate and inclusive.

Short and Long Term Emergency placements
Children and young people often require short-term emergency accommodation at a moment’s notice. ECS offers Emergency Placements for children and young people. We ensure that children and young people alwayshave a safe place to call home and to keep them connected to their local community, with a focus on school attendance at all times

Respite Care placement
ECS provides respite whether planed/unplanned, regular or one-off time. We offer a break for parents/carers and families; whilst offering the child or young person “a home away from home”. Our respite services aim to maintain the child or young person’s routine by introducing them to a safe and nurturing environment. We cater to the needs of the child or young person by working under a person-centered approach and framework.
Providing Long-term Stability & Success
At ECS our key objective is to assist the child or young person, where possible, to make a successful transition to a permanency outcome or less intensive placement type at the conclusion of our supports. This is achieved through an extensive understanding of the complexities associated with supporting young people in OOHC, having a consistent staffing team with specialised training across the areas of trauma, abuse, neglect, separation and cultural identity, and our commitment to achieving measurable outcomes.
It is acknowledged there are many environmental factors that may lead to poor outcomes for children and young people in OOHC and this builds the basis for our commitment to ensuring every young person has the best opportunities for long term stability and success.
